Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern the use of the websites jdchess.com, jdchess.us, and the JD Chess mobile application (collectively “the Service”), operated by Jean-Dominique Casanova, individual sole trader based in Europe (Warsaw, Poland).
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Description of the Service

JD Chess provides online chess coaching, study materials, and group programs.
Users can book lessons, purchase lesson packages, and access educational content through our platforms.

2. Eligibility

The Service is intended for individuals aged 18 or older.
Students under 18 must have the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.

3. Booking and Payments

  • Bookings are made through our online booking calendar or by direct agreement.
  • Payment is required in advance unless otherwise agreed in writing.
  • Prices are displayed in euros or U.S. dollars depending on location.
  • Payment methods are processed securely through external providers (e.g. Stripe, PayPal). JD Chess does not store payment card details.

4. Cancellations and Rescheduling

  • You may reschedule or cancel a lesson up to 24 hours before the scheduled start time.
  • Cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance may be charged in full.
  • If JD Chess must reschedule, you will be offered an alternative slot at no cost.
  • Unused prepaid hours remain valid for six months from purchase unless otherwise stated.

5. Lesson Conduct

  • Sessions are held online via Google Meet or equivalent tools.
  • Recording lessons without prior written consent is not permitted.
  • JD Chess reserves the right to terminate any session in case of inappropriate behaviour or technical abuse.

6. Intellectual Property

All lesson materials, videos, documents, and website content remain the property of JD Chess.
You are granted a personal, non-transferable right to use these materials for your own study only.
Reproduction, distribution, or resale without permission is prohibited.

7. Account Responsibility

If you create an account, you must maintain the confidentiality of your credentials and ensure all information provided is accurate.
You are responsible for all activity under your account.

8. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

JD Chess provides educational services on a best-effort basis.
While every effort is made to deliver high-quality instruction, no guarantee of specific rating improvement or outcome is given.
JD Chess shall not be liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from the use of the Service.

9. Privacy

Your personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
By using the Service, you consent to such processing.

10. Changes to the Service

JD Chess may modify or discontinue parts of the Service at any time, provided ongoing bookings are honoured or refunded as appropriate.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Poland and applicable European Union regulations.
Users outside the EU may also be subject to their local consumer-protection laws.
